Alternative 1: The easiest route if you have never been to Poppy Farm before.

  • 3.4 miles from Morrison's turn right where it is sign posted Patton Bridge. Very soon you come to a cross-road by a farm and barn buildings. Keep going straight up the hill: the road bends to the right.
  • Follow this narrow lane for a mile and you should see Poppy Farm on the right. (Look for the wooden sign on a telegraph pole).
  • Turn up the farm track and then turn right in front of the farm buildings. You should see a sign on a building - Fellview Caravan Park and Visitors Car Park; park here if you are visiting but drive through the gate if you are a resident.
  • Your holiday home is the top one on the right. Park next to the caravan in the space provided.

Alternative 2: Shortest but includes a winding lane.

  • 2.1 miles from Morrison's look out on the right-hand side for a lay-by and a bungalow with blue paintwork. Turn right here where it is sign posted Whinfell.
  • Follow this narrow lane for almost a mile when you reach a cross-road. Turn left and in 0.3 miles you come to Poppy Farm entrance.
  • Then follow instructions from Alternative 1.

Alternative 3: Avoids Kendal town centre.

  • Stay on the A591 until you reach a roundabout – Kendal north. As you go around the roundabout look for a sign for Burneside and follow it.
  • Keep following signs to Burneside and you enter the village down a hill to a T- junction. Turn right and immediately left – past the SPAR shop. From here just follow the main road until you reach the A6 where you turn left.
  • You will come 0.9 miles before the blue bungalow (Alternative 2) and 2.2 miles before the Patton Bridge turning (Alternative 1): take your pick.

FROM THE NORTH

  • Travel down the A6, until you pass the Plough Inn on the right hand side of the road. After take the third turn to the left signposted Patton Bridge: you are then on the Alternative 1 route.

Poppy Farm Caravan Park

Poppy Farm Caravan Park is an attractive landscaped park exclusively for owner occupied static caravans.

The park nestles amidst unspoilt countryside, just outside the Lake District National Park, on the northern outskirts of Kendal. Poppy Farm is a traditional working farm in a rural location with panoramic views and is a tranquil retreat for those seeking peace and quiet and who simply wish to "get away from it all".

It is a wildlife haven and offers a home to numerous species of birds, owls, woodpecker aswell as squirrel, rabbit, deer and hedgehogs.  We have beef cattle and sheep with lambs which can been seen in the surrounding fields.

We, John and Hazel have owned the Park for over 20 years and along with our children Lorna, Alistair and Bradley constantly strive to provide a personal, friendly service.  Some of our customers have been with us since the site opened and their friends have joined them which is a testimony in itself.
